Write down what you find on site
Add a reading or a step a job never asked for, from the office or the phone — marked as found on site, never required — and make it standard for that kind of work in one press.
What a job asks for is decided before anybody gets there. On site you find more: a crack in the flue worth a photograph, a gas pressure worth knowing on this furnace even though a tune-up never measures it. Until today that went into a note.
Now every job has a Measurements section, even one whose kind of work measures nothing, with Add a reading on the job’s page and Take another reading on the crew’s phone. Pick one of your measurements and record it like any other — the same unit, the same expected range, the same last time figure.
Every checklist on a job ends with Add a step, and a job with no checklist takes one too. Say what it is — a tick, pass or fail, a number, words, a choice or a photo — and answer it where it is.
Anything added this way is marked Added on site with who added it and when, belongs to that job alone, and is never required, so it never holds up finishing the job. A step added to a checklist your customers see is on their copy too, because it is work done at their property; from the office you can keep one to yourself.
And when the same finding keeps turning up, an owner or manager presses Ask this on every kind of work beside it. A step goes into that kind of work’s checklist, or a new one you name, and every job made from then on is asked it. A reading joins the kind of work’s measurements, and the jobs already booked offer it too. All on every plan.
