Putting yourself on the roster

If you do the work yourself, you need a worker record — here is how to get one, and what stops working without it.

Every plan Scheduling and the field

Most businesses here are one person, and that person does the work. They quote the job, drive to it, do it, and bill it.

The product handles that perfectly well, but it needs one thing set up: you have to be on the roster, the same way anybody you pay would be.

Why a worker record is needed

Work is assigned to workers — the product’s record of somebody the business pays. Your owner account is how you sign in; it is not automatically somebody who does jobs.

Without a worker record linked to your account:

  • My Day has nothing to show you, because no work is assigned to anybody it knows as you.
  • Your own hours have nobody to belong to.
  • You do not appear on the day board.

Put yourself on it

Two places, and either takes a moment:

  • Open My Day. If you are not on the roster, the screen says so plainly and offers to put you on it. That is the wall turned into a door — it is the exact moment you have noticed the problem.
  • From the Team page, link any member to a worker record, and create the record from their account in one step.

The dashboard’s setup checklist asks the question too, so a new business is prompted rather than finding out the first time it opens My Day.

After you are on it

Nothing else changes about how you use the product. You are now a worker who can be assigned jobs, whose hours cost money against a job, and who appears in a lane on the day board — which is exactly what an owner-operator is.

This page describes Owner on the Roster. It is written from that feature’s record and covers what has shipped, never what is planned.
