The crew's phone
What a field member gets instead of the console — one day at a time, sized for a thumb, three taps to record what happened.
A field member does not get a smaller console. They get a different product, built for somebody standing in a yard with one hand free, possibly wearing gloves, on a phone with two bars.
They have exactly one question: what am I on, and how do I tell the office what just happened? These screens answer that and nothing else.
Open My Day
My Day is the whole thing: today’s jobs, in order, one at a time. Tap one and you get what you need for that job — the address, the client, what the work is, and the controls to say what happened.
Targets are sized for a thumb. Recording a fact takes three or four taps.
Say where the work is
Move the job along as you go — on your way, arrived, working, finished. The office sees it on the day board immediately, so nobody has to ring to ask.
If the job carries a checklist with required steps outstanding, Completed is not offered, and the reason is shown. A button that appears is a button that will work. See Job checklists.
Record what happened
From the job you can:
- Work the checklist — tick, type, choose, judge, photograph, sign.
- Take a reading on a unit or a piece of equipment — see Measurements.
- Log your hours.
- Add a note, including one that goes to the client.
- Take photos.
See what is at the property
The job lists the units at that property with their model, serial, age and the last few things done to them — so you know what is in the attic before you climb into it. See Units at a client’s property.
What a field member cannot reach
A Field member is blocked from the console entirely, apart from their own profile. That is deliberate rather than a limitation: the console answers questions about many jobs, and this answers one.
Nothing about help is restricted, though. A field member reaches these pages exactly as the office does.
If you are the owner and do the work
You need a worker record before My Day has anything to show you — see Putting yourself on the roster.
This page describes Field Experience — The Crew's Phone. It is written from that feature’s record and covers what has shipped, never what is planned.
