The API, webhooks and Zapier are now part of Professional
Keys, webhooks and the Zapier app move to Professional. On Starter they are kept and paused, never deleted, and anyone already using one has thirty days.
Our plans have one rule: Starter is everything that runs on our own systems, and Professional is everything that runs on somebody else’s meter. Today we add one thing to it. Professional is also everything somebody else’s software runs on ours.
A person using SMG Tools makes a request when they click. A program can make as many requests as it was written to, all day long:
- a sync every few minutes;
- a Zap for every event;
- an AI app reading your records for every question it is asked.
That costs us to run and to support. A business that plugs SMG Tools into the rest of its software is running on it. So API keys, webhooks and the Zapier app are now part of Professional and the plans above it, alongside accounting sync and the bank feed, which already were.
Your inbound lead address stays on every plan. It takes a lead from any form or lead service. That is the same thing a stranger can already do on your public page, and it is often how a new business’s first customers find it.
Nothing is deleted. On Starter, your keys and webhooks stay on the Integrations page, shown as paused:
- a program using a key is told the plan does not include the API;
- a webhook sends nothing;
- renaming or revoking a key and deleting a webhook still work.
On Professional again, all of it works on the next request. Nothing that happened in between is sent later.
Nobody is surprised:
- Already using a key or a webhook on Starter? Everything keeps working for thirty days, and your Owner was emailed the date.
- On a trial? Your Owner is told seven days before it ends, and only if anything would pause.
- Cancelling? The cancellation email says what will pause.
Plans and billing has the whole rule, and Connect a program with an API key and Webhooks and an inbound lead address say what each one needs.
